Crummy Birthday Cake

Somehow the top layer of Jesus' birthday cake broke in half. Then we ran out of frosting to cover it all. Noticing my disappointment Natalie smiled up at me. "It's okay Mom, Jesus won't mind." What a breath of fresh air in a stagnant, religion choked world. Would that she always sees Him this way..the understanding God.

6 Years Ago Today

6 years ago today I jumped into a car with the boy I loved and headed out of the beach and into the big city...

6 years ago today I explored D.C. wearing a floppy hat and a beaming smile...

6 years ago today I sat by a beautiful lighted waterfall at the FDR memorial and gazed off into the darkening sky, thinking, wondering...

6 years ago today the boy I loved took a knee, handed me a beautiful handmade scrapbook, the last page of which contained a beautiful diamond ring...

6 years ago today I said YES! and I have never once regretted it....

My Vacuum and Me

As a mother of three under the age of five I am becoming more and more thankful for the little things in life. Take the humble vacuum cleaner..

Skimming effortlessly across the floor as I juggle a newborn in one arm, a 2 year old straddling my foot and a 4 year old tugging at my belt loop crying for yet another snack, the vacuum accomplishes its mission, taking no prisoners, putting the dust in its place.

But it gets better. Not only does it manage the carpet, leaving smooth even rows and crisp lines as a visible marker that I HAVE CLEANED! No no, it does one better than that, now my vacuum takes a few detours through the dining room and kitchen and even the entryway. Aha! What a load lifting discovery. No more frustrating incidents sweeping the same spot over and over to get that last layer of dust. After sweeping with the broom I send my motoring friend to finish the job. Simple enough that I should have tried it years ago.
The poor broom will be whimpering in the closet for a little more responsibility and I will be spending less time frowning at the errant crumbs and more time wrestling crib sheets onto mattresses that are way too big for them, , or scraping the inevitable residue around my stove burners, , or attempting to locate the sippy cup my little guy disappeared down the hall with how long ago? (Guess all that's fodder for my next post maybe)......Here's to the continuation of a beautiful friendship.

A Visit..

I've been remiss in posting and in giving thanks lately, I might have a little excuse (ahem, three little excuses) but I want to be a little more constant in recording all of our "moments" while they're fresh.. Natalie and Adam cannot stop talking about our most recent visitor, Uncle Andrew. Every helicopter that crosses the sky they wave and yell up at him and they keep asking when we will go back to the airport to pick him up, they want him back!

We owe him a world of gratitude for taking time out of his busy schedule to stop in and wrestle and roughhouse, put up Christmas lights, soothe a fussing baby, do dishes, put together a gingerbread house and keep track of our busy little folks in Target and McDonald's and the library. He bravely entered Toddlerland and emerged victorious and beloved by all...
